The weekly check sheet: rows for the stall door, feed, water, manure, eyes and nose, body, each leg, feet, stance, first steps and vital signs, with a column for the horse's normal and one for each day
The weekly sheet. One row per check, one column per day.

How it works

Fill in the "normal for this horse" column first. Watch for a week or two before you trust it, and write down what you actually see, not what a book says.

Then do the check at the same time, in the same order, every day. Tick what matches his normal. Circle anything that doesn't and write a word or two. Look again later. If it hasn't gone back to normal, or he just seems off, call your vet with your notes in hand.

It's the short version of everything Derek teaches: learn the individual horse, know their normal, pay attention when something changes.

When you want to go deeper

The check gets you in the habit. Know Your Horse takes it further with a full baseline worksheet, a weekly tracker and a change log, built from our recordings with Derek.

The Daily Horse Check helps you notice change. It doesn't diagnose anything and it doesn't replace your veterinarian.
